Have you ever wondered what would happen if a ship actually ran into the lift Bridge. Well in 2001 such an event occurred at the Allenburg Bridge over the Welland Canal. The Welland Canal is used to bypass Niagara Falls.
The following video shows the freighter Wendoc hitting the bridge. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
