Alder out Cutting Ice

A sure sign of spring is when the Coast Guard Cutter Alder heads out to cut ice. Today was that day. Under cloudy skies the Alder was the first boat moving in the harbor for the 2010 shipping season. Soon, the Lakers will begin pulling out of their winter layups.

The View

You are overlooking Duluth, Minnesota which is a city built on hills overlooking the western tip of Lake Superior. The first camera to the left is owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers' Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center with funding from the Lake Superior Marine Museum Association. The center camera is focused on the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge and the third on the Duluth Harbor. Enjoy the View! -- Dennis
