The Great Loon Cover-Up

The Great Loon Cover-Up - Two babies peek out from under the wings of an adult loon.
Loon chicks will spend much of their first two weeks of life tucked under the wings of the adults, or, riding the backs. The baby feathers keeps the little loons buoyant until they get strong enough to start learning to fish and dive during the summer months.
It has been 5 years since loons has babies on Caribou Lake, so, of course, I have taken lot's of pictures.

The nesting pair of Loons that I have bee watching hatched today.  withing a few hours, the babies were in the water sheltered by mom's wings.
