Fighting strong cross winds, the Clyde S VanEnkevort / Erie Trader pushed it's way into Silver Bay to load iron ore pellets this afternoon.

Trotman Folding Stock Anchor from the Whaleback Thomas Wilson

This anchor is on the lawn of the visitor center along the lakeshore.

From the adjoining plaque:  1892, This conventional ship anchor from the whaleback steamer Thomas Wilson, sunk a half mile outside the Duluth Piers. Recovered in 1973 by the USCC Cutter Woodrush with divers Elmer Engman, Dave Anderson, Dan Gomsn, and Paul Von Goertz. 

The anchor weighs a ton and 1/2.
