Pure Air from the Arctic for sale -- cheap!

We happen to have a new shipment of fresh clean pure arctic air that just arrived this morning. My wood pile is going down fast.

This is a reading from my home weather station, 10 miles north of Duluth. If you live south, we'll be sending it your way soon!

Camera operations during extreme cold

All of the cameras have cold weather protection circuitry for extreme cold.  With temperatures falling well below zero for the next two weeks, we can expect intermittent operation, especially in the early morning hours.
Spring is right around the corner after that!

Enjoy the cold! Wherever you are at!

January Moonrise at Split Rock Lighthouse

The Full Moon of January is a chance to see the moon rise behind the lighthouse.  Always a cool time to photograph.

Michipicoten departed Superior 01/12/2019

Michipicoten departed Superior Saturday evening.

End of season Info

Thank you all for the many kind remarks, comments, and financial support throughout 2018. The past year has been a very enjoyable endeavor and I hope the cams have been a window to the Northland for you.

The cameras will keep operating during the offseason with the exception of the fact that during extreme cold they may shut down automatically for circuit protection. This sometimes happens when temps drop below -10 F.

With cool weather on our doorstep, there should be some great images of sea smoke rising off the canal as well as beautiful sunrises. I will try and have the cams positioned to view this rather unique phenomenon.

I will also be posting occasional images from various photographers of winter images around the harbors and lake shore.

Have a great offseason, the boats will be back towards the end of March. The Lord willing, I will be here for 2019.
